What is a Persona?

A persona is an AI writing profile that defines how your newsletter sounds. When AI drafts your newsletter, it uses the persona to match your style.

Accessing Personas

Go to your newsletter → Personas

Creating a Persona

1. Click "New Persona"
2. Enter a name (e.g., "Friendly Expert")
3. Write the writing prompt
4. Click "Save"

Writing Prompt

The writing prompt tells AI how to write. Include:

• Tone (formal, casual, witty, professional)
• Perspective (first person, editorial "we")
• Style notes (use of humor, technical depth, etc.)

Example Prompts

Friendly Expert: Write in a warm, approachable tone that makes complex topics accessible. Use "we" and "you" to create connection. Include occasional humor but stay informative. Aim for an 8th-grade reading level while covering advanced topics.

News Anchor: Write in a professional, objective tone like a news broadcast. Present facts clearly without editorializing. Use active voice and short sentences. Cover multiple perspectives when relevant.

Opinionated Curator: Write with strong opinions and personality. Don't be afraid to say what you think. Use first person ("I think..."). Be direct and occasionally provocative to spark engagement.

AI-Generated Personas

Let AI create a persona based on your newsletter:

1. Click "Generate with AI"
2. AI analyzes your newsletter name, tagline, and preferences
3. Review the generated persona
4. Edit if needed, then save

Default Persona

Set one persona as the default for AI drafting:

1. Find the persona in your list
2. Click "Set as Default"

The default persona is used automatically when you click "Draft with AI."

Multiple Personas

Create multiple personas for different situations:

• Weekly Digest: Casual, comprehensive overview
• Breaking News: Urgent, concise, factual
• Deep Dive: Detailed, analytical, thorough

Select a non-default persona when drafting specific issues.

Editing Personas

1. Click the persona name
2. Edit the name or prompt
3. Save changes

Deleting Personas

1. Click "Delete" on the persona
2. Confirm deletion

Tips for Better Personas

• Be specific: "Witty and conversational with tech industry knowledge" beats "friendly"
• Include examples: Mention newsletters you want to emulate
• Iterate: Refine the prompt based on AI output
• Test frequently: Draft a few issues to see how it sounds
